"I was the healthiest guy I knew, " says William Anast as he recounts receiving diagnosis of an acute illness just days before his 30th birthday. Years earlier when he and his wife Laurie were starting their family, a good friend and insurance agent had advised him to consider disability income insurance, which he declined. "I made a bet, not understanding that the consequences would be my family's financial security."

William had served as a financial analyst intern while completing his degree in Economics at UC Irvine. When he graduated from college, instead of taking a solid career position at the aircraft manufacturer, he followed in his father's footsteps and embarked on a career as an entrepreneur.

Through hard work and dedication, William developed a successful retail business, sold his share and reinvested his realized gains into a restaurant concept he and his partner hoped to franchise. All that was suddenly interrupted by several surgeries, extended rehabilitation, and long recoveries.

The illness forced William to walk away from the restaurant, and by his own account he burned through ten years of hard earned savings during a two-year disability. Reflection during rehab on the impact of his illness turned into a decision to change to a financial services career once he had regained his health.

Today, William is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner. He has particular focus and expertise in risk management and estate planning strategies. William has established a niche in his field, and works almost exclusively by referral. "Most of my clients come to me from other professional advisors including investment consultants, CPAs, attorneys, and insurance professionals," William explains. "I take great care in how I treat their clients, and other advisors in the field have come to know that those they refer will be advised at the highest standard."

Outside of work, William enjoys spending time with his family, playing volleyball and golf, and pursing his other passion: vintage automobiles. William and Laurie reside in Orange County. They have three daughters in whom they take great pride.
